Every Monday through Friday, the Breakfast Cafe at VFW Post 4961 in Seaford is open from 8-10am. The Seaford VFW is on Middleford Road, and the proceeds go to the Veteran's Relief Fund.  All are welcome.

Every Thursday through October   The Cambridge Main Street Farmers Market is open from 3:30 to 6:30 in the Academy Street parking lot next to the Breeze Away limousine company.

Now through May 18                        The Tred Avon Players perform the comedy “Sylvia” by A. R. Gurney at the Oxford Community Center. Now through May 24            The Academy Art Museum presents “American Vision: New Works from the Plein Air Painters of America.” This is a juried exhibition of the signature members of the Plein Air association. Now through May 31            The Troika Gallery on Harrison Street in Easton presents its “Annual Spring Show”, featuring works by 33 artists, many of whom plan to attend the special Opening Reception on April 4. For more information, call 410-770-9190.

Now through Oct. 25    The West End Citizens Association conducts a one-hour walking tour of historic High Street in Cambridge every Saturday morning at 10 am.. A colonial-costumed tour guide will greet everyone in front of the Wallace Office Building at 301 Gay Street. May 10 & 11       Old Trinity Church in Cambridge invites the public to The Flowering of the Church, an old Anglican tradition, from 1 to 4 pm each day. There will be tours of the sanctuary, cemetery and the “living shoreline” project currently underway. Refreshments, bake sale and herbs will be on sale. Admission is free.

May 10               The Pine Street Empowerment Center is hosting a Mother-Daughter Mother’s Day luncheon from 11 am to 2 pm. May 10              The Chesapeake Bay Council of Girl Scouts is holding a Cheerleading Clinic from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at Choptank Elementary School for all girls in grades kindergarten through 5. May 10                First United Methodist Church in Secretary is holding an Indoor Flea Market & Flower Day 8 a.m.  to 1:30 p.m. at the church on the corner of Main and Academy Street. May 10            Camp ESPA will have  a Motorcycle Fundraiser Poker Ride that leaves 9:30 am. from the camp located at 5425 Sharptown Road. May 10            The 5th annual Invitation to Style  Fashion Show will be held at the Waterview Grille Pavilion & Gardens at the Easton Club. The runway-style fashion show and silent auction begins at 5:30 and will include food and wine. Tickets are $65.00 with a portion tax deductible. May 14            Schooner's Restaurant and several local businesses are sponsoring an all-you-can-eat Pig Roast & silent auction fundraiser for Oxford resident Bob Gunter, who is fighting brain cancer. May 14-17            Master meditation teacher Erik Knud-Hansen (brother of our news director) returns to Evergreen Cove in Easton for another series of programs in the use of the Buddhist traditions of mediation and inquiry to  bring an end to personal suffering. Knud-Hansen will conduct four programs on these four consecutive days….the first three will be from 7 to 9 pm…the final program will be a day-long meditation and inquiry retreat from 10 am to 6 pm. May 15            The 14th Annual Senior Celebration will be held  9:00am-3:00pm at Governor’s Hall, Sailwinds Park in Cambridge. May 17            The St. Michaels Bay Hundred annual Gala Garden Party will be held from 4 to 8 pm on the grounds of Beverly…a 19th century estate in Talbot County. May 29-June 1            The Academy Art Museum presents a workshop titled Experimenting with Impressionist Painting Techniques with instructors: Ross Merrill, Chief of Conservation at the National Gallery of Art and Robert Gamblin, a founder of Gamblin Artists' Oil Colors . May 29            The Dorchester General Hospital Auxiliary is holding an “It’s in the Bag” sale, featuring bags, totes, wallets and luggage up to 70% off retail prices. The sale is  7 am to 4 pm and will be held in the hospital’s lobby. Proceeds benefit programs and services of the hospital.

May 31            The 2008 Wicomico County Youth Summit Conference will be held from 9:30 am to 3 p.m. at the Salisbury University  Guerrieri Center. The conference theme is Dare to be Different, with a focus on creating healthy relationships. May 31-June 1            Representatives from at least 15 Maryland wineries will be taking part in the first-ever Chesapeake Bay Wine Festival, to be held at Terrapin Park in Stevensville. June 6              The final Square and Round Dance with the Dorchester Swingers for the season will be held from 8 to 10:30 PM at Maple Elementary School on Egypt Rd. in Cambridge. June 7              The first annual POW-MIA 7460 Bike Show  will begin at noon at the VFW Post 7460 Sandy Hill Rd,. Many bike events begin 2 p.m.; judging the many classes of motorcycles is at 3:45 p.m. Live music, food, vendors, games. Tickets $5; bike entry cost $10. The event will benefit the VFW Operation Uplink program, which  enables military personnel and hospitalized veterans to communicate with their families and loved ones by providing them with a free phone cards. June 7             The 22nd annual Greenwood Spring Festival will be held rain or shine at the Greenwood Mennonite School in Delaware. The family event starts with an all you can eat breakfast, an auction at noon and lots of food, crafts and entertainment….not to mention helicopter rides. June 8              The MARKS RC Model Airplane Club is holding its annual airshow at the MARKS Flying Field in Salisbury. June 14            The Kennard Alumni Association is holding a 5K Walk/Run and Family Day to help raise money for the restoration and renovation of the KHS Building. The school is being converted to a museum and cultural heritage center. The walk/run begins at 9 am….there also will be arts and crafts for sale, building tours and a classic car show. October 11            The annual Memory Walk to raise funds for Alzheimer’s disease research will be held in Salisbury at the Center City Building. Registration will be at 9 am, and the walk begins at 10.

November 14-16        The 38th annual Waterfowl Festival will be held from 10 am to 6 pm on Friday and Saturday, and until 4 pm on Sunday. This is a premier fine art and sportsman’s expo….featuring paintings, decoy carvings, hunting dog demonstrations, and lots of food and entertainment. Admission Friday and Saturday is $12.00 per person…$10 on Sunday, or $24.00 for a multi-day pass. Children 12 and under accompanied by an adult are free. For information, call 410-822-4567.
